Stray cats are often left to fend for themselves because they have no human family that offers them a warm and loving home. Luckily for Leon, a stray kitten, he has not only found his forever home but was also given a cool job!
Leon’s good fortune began one rainy February day. The poor kitten was wandering around looking for a safe spot where he can take refuge from the pouring rain. His little paws led him to the Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (Order of Attorneys of Brazil) or OAB.
As soon as the staff saw Leon, they were smitten. The stray kitten was immediately provided with food and a box where he can sleep in. It did not take long for the employees to adopt him and allowed him to hang around in the lobby.

Although Leon’s new life was better than before, there were still hurdles along the way. Several patrons were displeased and complained about his presence in the law firm. According to OAB, some of the clients said that there is no place for Leon in the professional institution.
To solve this dilemma, the officials decided to hire Leon as a full-time cattorney. He was even provided with an ID to make it official. When Dr Jeanette Laredo, one of the employees in the law firm, shared this good news online, it went viral. Leon instantly gained numerous fans which prompted OAB to create an Instagram account to chronicle his feline antics. He now has over 30,000 followers.
Leon is thriving in his new home but after being neutered, the vets discovered that his vocal cords were damaged as a result of neglect and abuse back when he was a kitten. Thus, he hardly ever meows. Despite his condition, the people in the law firm love him just the same.
This motivated OAB to create an institute to protect abused and abandoned animals. The institute will be called Instituto Dr Leon and will be run by NGOs funded by OAB. OAB hopes that Brazil will set an example for others to follow.
Whilst Leon’s life started out rough as a stray kitten, he is now the beloved cat of the law firm. In fact, even those who disliked him back then have grown accustomed to his presence. Moreover, not only is Leo getting a lot of admirers, but he is also promoting awareness for stray animals that need love and forever homes.
