Through no fault of his own, we have made the heartbreaking decision to rehome our 2 year old Sphynx, Yuri. The reason for rehoming is that he is not getting on with sharing his home with our 18 month old daughter and we believe this is further impacted by the loss of our dog several months ago. Our daughter is very demanding of his attention and is not yet able to understand boundaries, so we feel it is fairer for him to go to a home where his personal space is respected and he is given the right attention. We would like for him to go to owners who are very experienced with cats and/or Sphynx, but new time Sphynx owners will be considered! Yuri is incredibly affectionate and cuddly with adults and older children (who understand and respect boundaries). He is very playful and is happiest when snuggled up in your lap or basking in the sun. Yuri can live with cat-friendly dogs as he has lived with dogs previously and we often have my parent’s dogs come to stay which has never been an issue and he is very friendly. He has never lived with another cat but seemed to get on well with the cats local to us. Yuri does also go out for walks (in warm weather) on a leash and enjoys spending time in the garden but this should be monitored so he doesn’t wonder off. Sphynx cats require a lot of maintenance. Yuri is currently bathed fortnightly, sometimes more if necessary. He is well behaved in the bath and we’ve never had any issues with clipping his nails, wiping his face/ears/feet.
